We are happy to share that our Faculty, Staff, and PG students did well at the 2nd National Conference of the Society of Cardiovascular

We are happy to share that our Faculty, Staff, and PG students did well at the 2nd National Conference of the Society of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, held at Pune on 13–14 Sept 2025. The Society of CVPR released a book “Implementing Pulmonary Rehabilitation-A practical guide” in the conference in which Dr Rachna Arora, Professor Additional, and Dr Madhura Patil were 2 of the many co-authors. Dr Rachna Arora, Professor, chaired a session in the conference. She, along with Dr Madhura Patil, Contractual Physiotherapist, were resource persons in the conference. Awards won in the conference: Dr. Madhura Patil – 1st Prize, Paper Presentation (Senior Category) Dr. Kinjal Patel – 2nd Prize, Paper Presentation (Junior Category) Dr. Sanchita Sontakke – 1st Prize, Poster Presentation (Junior Category) Dr. Priyanka Ghumnani – 2nd Prize, Poster Presentation (Junior Category)

The Dept of Psychiatry celebrated 10th September - World Suicide Prevention day with a series of activities carried out at Registration counter, outside Medicine OPD and Psychiatry OPD by doing street plays, poster exhibition and advocacy on suicide prevention. All sessions were interactive with awareness created in the general public regarding anxiety, depression and that help is always available.

On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2025, Physiotherapy School and Centre in Collaboration with the Dept.

On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2025, Physiotherapy School and Centre in Collaboration with the Dept. Of Community Medicine, TNMC and B.Y.L Nair Ch hospital, Mumbai as a part of Physiotherapy Week Celebration conducted a program on *"Healthy Aging" at Shahaji Nagar Urban Health Centre, Cheetah Camp on 10th Sept, 2025. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Hetal Mistry Professor (Additional) , Dr. Razia Shaikh (Clinical Therapist) , Dr. Humera Shaikh (MPT-1) , Interns and Final year BPTh students explained the importance of healthy ageing, causes , myths and facts of old age and exercises demonstration to the participants. Dr. Kakoli , Assistant Professor from Community Medicine Dept. delivered informative speech on Preventive measures for healthy ageing and Government schemes and facilities for senior citizens. The program got great response and active interaction by the participants. Wholehearted involvement of the participants was evident in the practical guidance. We are thankful to Professor and Head of Community Medicine, Dr. Rujuta Hadaye and Professor and Head of Physiotherapy School and Center, Dr. Chhaya Verma , C.D.O of Cheetah Camp for giving us this opportunity

The Department of Psychiatry inaugurated the Conference and Research Room in memory of the Late Dr. Charles Pinto today. We were blessed with presence of our stalwarts and ex-Heads of Department, Dr. Pinto’s batchmates and students and family. We are grateful to our Dean, Dr. Mohite, UG Academic Dean Dr. Lalita Patil who graced the occasion, and the TNMC Global Alumni and particularly the North America Chapter, and batch of 1969 who contributed to make this day possible. Dr. Pinto was known for his passion in geriatrics and research, and though this, the legacy lives on. The Department is now equipped to offer distance teaching and learning to postgraduates and outreach patient care services through this donation.

The Phase I MBBS subjects of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry successfully conducted the "1st All Mumbai Integrated quiz" in the subjects of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry on the 12th of August 2025 Our own TNMC team secured the first place and the team from HBTMC the second place. This event wouldn't have been possible without the encouragement and support of our Dean Dr Shailesh Mohite Sir. All the three departments are grateful to Sir for motivating the participants and for gracing the occasion.

The Audiology and Speech Therapy Department of TNMC & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital conducted

The Audiology and Speech Therapy Department of TNMC & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital conducted a Hearing Aid Donation Programme with the generous support of the TNMC Global Alumni (TGA) (India Chapter). 10 Digital Hearing aids were provided to children with hearing impairment after thorough audiological assessments and fittings. This initiative of TGA has brought the gift of hearing to our patients over many years, enhancing their communication abilities and quality of life. The department sincerely thank the TGA Office Bearers and members for their generosity and continued commitment to their Alma Mater and community welfare. The department also thank Dean Sir for his encouragement and support.

An enlightening session on “Digital Wellbeing: Ways and Means

" was conducted at Nursing Auditorium, TNMC & BYL Nair Hospital on 09/04/2025. This session was organised by the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Adnan Kadiani and Dr. Abhiram Kasbe were the key speakers. Dr. Rujuta Hadaye concluded the session by stating the importance of balance in our digital lives, especially in scenarios where healthcare workers and students are increasingly dependent on digital devices. International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025,

International Women's Day (IWD) 2025, #AccelerateAction. To celebrate international women's day, Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Surgery, organized a health screening camp for the well-being of all women staff at TNMC. The camp was inaugurated by Hon. Dean, Dr. Shailesh Mohite who encouraged and wholeheartedly supported the activity. The camp focused on early detection and diagnosis of common non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including hypertension, diabetes, , oral cancer, breast cancer, and bone mineral density assessment. Participants included senior women faculty, nursing staff, administrative personnel, and labor staff, whose enthusiastic involvement highlighted the significance of this initiative and set positive tone for the event. The camp was organised under the leadership of Dr. Rujuta Hadaye, Professor and Head of the Community Medicine dept and was coordinated by Dr. Mangala Bote and Dr. Prajakta Patil. Health education was imparted through audiovisual material including clippings on various noncommunicable diseases and A-V by Dr. Jayashree Pandya, Professor and I/C Head of Surgery, who supported breast examinations of women. On the spot, blood sugar testing was done along with blood pressure measurement, Body mass index calculation and risk assessment scoring. Bone dexa scan was done to understand bone density and detect osteoporosis. Oral examination was done by resident doctors to detect early lesions of oral cancer and also ensuring oral hygiene. Women who consented for breast examinations were screened for breast lesions. Women who tested positive on any screening test,were referred to appropriate OPD for confirmation of diagnosis and further management. Women who need mammography will be referred and supported with coupons given by the Public Health Department of Mumbai. 194 women staff members underwent screening and over 500 persons got benefitted by the camp in terms of awareness generation. The dept. is grateful to Dean Sir, Dr. Daksha shah,EHO, Mumbai,Dept. Of Surgery and all women staff for making the camp a grand success. A heartfelt thank you to our respected Dean Sir, Dr. Shailesh Mohite, for his unwavering support in making this initiative a remarkable success!
